What’s it all about, RT?

"Stairway to Heaven" is an image made with an infra-red filter. It is made shows a staircase leading to the top of a native American burial site at Emerson Park on Snead Island, Florida.

“God grant we may have the wonder of a child-heart that the Holy Spirit gives, and that He may keep our minds young and vigorous and un-stagnant, never asleep, but with child-eyed wonder at the next wonderful thing that God will do.”
Oswald Chambers, from the book If you will ask.

To that I might add you and me and whatever else in the entire universe that He has ever caused to be. Whether you agree with me or not, about how we came to be, my hope is that you will never lose your sense of wonder and amazement.

While writing this, the theme of the 1960’s musical, Alphie, is going through my brain. So, if you know that tune please ask and sing, out loud, “what’s it all about, RT?” (RT, that would be me)

Hopefully, this post will provide an answer explain why this blog exists. Why some old man, would take the time to write this stuff and why he hopes you will read it. Then determine whether or not you feel it’s something you should continue to read.

The first time I read Chambers prayer above I immediately recalled this, strangely enchanting, short video from a bible study I participated in many years ago called “The Truth Project”. The premise of The Truth Project was a really haunting question, “Do you really believe, what you believe, is really real?” This blog is about my personal, daily journey, to find that answer. From the moment I watched the little girl in the video make this statement, “Do you, ever wonder? I do” it has been my prayer to live that out. Life to its fullest.

It’s funny how a simple song can stay with you forever. More than 50 years later, a deep cut from a Jethro Tull album, Wondering Aloud, still brings a tear of joy to me eye. It paints a mind image of a young couple, married perhaps, newly discovering love, and invites you to ponder just what that means. Yet it invokes one to take the time to really appreciate the simplest moments we share.

The song is also the inspiration for the title of this blog. Here wondering is not just allowed, it is encouraged. So, once again I ask, “Do you ever wonder?” I do.

Out of the millions of pages on the interwebs you happened upon and apparently read this one. Please take a moment to ponder, am I one of the people He, yes, He with a capital H, not me, chose to find this or was it just an accident?

If so, please bookmark this blog, and click here to continue. Either way may God bless you.

This concludes part one of my babbling.

A link to part 2 will be placed here whenever I get around to writing it.
